Our Story

Brandon's passion for crafting specialty coffee drinks ignited during the pandemic. As he and his wife sheltered at home, their morning coffee routine grew stale, and they longed for their local coffee shop experiences. This sparked Brandon's experimentation with homemade syrups, whipped creams, and handcrafted beverages. He meticulously perfected each creation, transforming a simple drink into a delightful experience. Encouraged by rave reviews from family & friends, Brandon began dreaming of opening his own coffee shop. However, he lacked a clear vision and a name—until the passing of his beloved grandfather, Roy Hinkelman, affectionately known as "Poppop," in June 2024.

Poppop's Legacy

Poppop, a man who savored even a simple cup of coffee, always enthusiastically sampled Brandon's latest latte creations. He was a constant source of support and a profound influence on Brandon's life. Poppop's passing brought a sudden clarity, a final gift: the vision and the name. It was clear—the coffee shop would be a tribute to his grandfather.

Brandon knew he couldn't embark on this journey alone and immediately invited his brother, Ryan, to join him. Ryan readily agreed. As the concept took shape, Brandon knew the shop needed an identity, specifically a logo - one that not only represented the business but also honored Poppop's memory. He entrusted this important task to his brother-in-law, Justin. With the logo in place, "Poppop's Coffee Shop" was ready to become a reality. It was a chance for Brandon to pursue his dream and, more importantly, to honor and create a lasting legacy for an incredible man who thought you were never too busy to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with loved ones.
